Apple Search Ads and privacy

All Apple Search Ads data collected by Apple is subject to the Apple Privacy Policy, and is not sold to third parties. Apple Search Ads does not use customers’ personal data from other Apple services such as Siri, Messages and iCloud, or from users’ devices through services and functionality such as Health, HomeKit, email, contacts and call history.

No ads will be shown to Apple ID accounts registered to minors under 13 years of age, or to accounts registered as Managed Apple IDs. Only customers over the appropriate age (as defined regionally) can receive targeted ads or ads for apps with a 17+ rating. That appropriate age is 18 in most of the world, including the US. In Canada and Korea, it’s 19 and in Japan it’s 20.

Customers may also opt out of receiving targeted ads by using Limit Ad Tracking (LAT). Limit Ad Tracking is enabled by default for children’s Apple ID accounts.

Conversion attribution for Apple Search Ads is done in a manner respectful of privacy. Once a newly acquired customer opens your app, your app queries the customer’s device to determine whether the download can be attributed to Apple Search Ads:

  • Attribution data is retrieved using an identifier not associated with an Apple ID.
  • You can perform a query only for a current customer of your app.
  • Customers can enable Limit Ad Tracking to prevent the query.
